First intentional swim in 16 years

Well, I swam yesterday!

Yup, first time in 16 years I've pulled my skirt. I swam 3 years ago after my skirt blew, which marked my first swim in 13 years.

We ran the Riviere du Nords at 200 cumecs (m3/s). Normal high flows are about 35 cumecs. Big holes, and bigger holes, with big rapids with big holes everywhere. There were even a few big holes.

Unfortunately I ended up in one of them, smacked my head (which thank god I was wearing this new Gath helmet), rang my bell, and decided I wasn't having fun any more and was out-of-there!

Swim wasn't to bad except we were above a rapid called "Don't Fuck Up" so it was actually more like walking on water than swimming ;-). I wanted no part of swimming into that mess.

Anyway, that's my little tid'bit for the day. Other than that, a great run, with some runs that were more challenging and more nerve racking than I've had in a very long time. Very scary, very hard moves and high consequences.

There are no pictures of the hole I swam out of because the rapids were "over" We were simply heading downstream, waiting for "Don't Fuck Up" when out of no where this buss sized hole appeared, but you have a good idea of what was happening that day from these pictures.

Comming out of Hole 2 (Centre) after hitting the left edge of it and getting pushed river right, and heading right for "Reptile". Plan (A) was bank off the rock, and use it to ferry back to river left. Plan (B)... well there was no plan (B)!

Comming into "Limbo"... usually a 4 meter high fall, here it was a flume into a huge hole. Plan (A) was to sub under it. Plan (B) was to swim out of it. Hurrah for plan (A)!
Threading the needle between two giant holes. I had to use the corner of hole one to throw me river left to miss hole two. Right after hole 2... "Reptile", a 6 meter high slide, 2 metres wide into a gnarly hole.
