Kneeboarding

| I've had a lot of people ask me this year "Dude, do you still kayak?"
There is only one answer to that. "I'll ALWAYS KAYAK!" But, I've also been expanding my horrisons. I've spent the last few years looking for new ways to enjoy the rivers that I love so much. I got back into creeking in a big way, and I've been trying to develop new ways of kayaking river waves (Squashtail). But I've also been mixing it up with surf boarding, and I have to admit, its really, really fun. Combine that with the fact that I've been making a film about River Surfing, and the end result is I've probably spent nearly half my time on a board this year. But there is something else, in the middle, between the two. It rides like a surfboard, and it handles like a kayak. You swim onto the waves like a surfboard, but then you do kayak style moves. You have that same feeling of freedom as you do on a surfblard, but that familier feel and control of a kayak (basically - almost no learning curve). Is it as fun as kayaking or surfing. I dunno, but I'll say this. Who cares. Who said I have to choose one or the other, when I can do them all depending on which mood on what day suits me. Life is grand! |
