Can it get any more fun?
A common comment I have heard (which is ironic because I used to hear the same thing about the Disco, back when it was the only boat of its kind) is "That Squashtail sure looks fun... if you live at lachines or Skookumchuck. But what about people who live in places where the waves are super small?"

A good point. And my response... It's even MORE fun... realitive to other boats! This video will be an eye opener. The first part was shot in Norway, on a super small wave. According to paul, who lives jsut upstream of the wave, he hasn't really been able to surf it properly since the Glide days (an 8 foot kayak that was reknown for its speed over other 8 foot kayaks). When the level is just right, some 7 and a half footers can surf the wave. But at this level, the Squashtail is the boat.

This wave is pretty representative of the hundreds of waves people paddle past every day because the boats they are in simply cannot surf it, and even if they can, its so slow and sluggish its no fun. On a wave like this, nobody is going to impress you with 4 foot aerials, no matter who they are and what they paddle, but whats cool about this video is it shows just how much fun the Squashtail is on a wave that is this small.

The 2nd part of the video shows the Squashtail ina ction on a super fast wave... also in Norway. At this level, with the left side more of a hole than anything, the traditional butt boucners couldn't really do much because the pit was so deep, and they lacked the speed to use the right side lip for air moves (they could get there but no way for them to pull off these blunts like that). Nop boats could make it over to the extreme right, let alone with this kind of speed.

Notice the speed on this wave... wow!!!

The next day the level was different and the butt bouncers had a great time - the pit was greener and allowed them to do thier thing, which they do well. But everyone who was there agreed that the Squashtail stood out on that wave. Look at those top turns... look at how much of the wave I get to use and where I can do my moves... soo much fun.

The point? While the Butt bouncers did great Day 2 on the large wave, none of them can even come close to surfing the small one. Great boats - lots of fun, those butt boucners - IF conditions are IDEAL. Otherwise... well. they are very limiting in thier scope.

In the end, its all about having fun!!!
