ICE!
Today was the first day out for us this season. -2C (warm for Feb in Montreal) and sunny. I had just sighned the lease on my new store, and decided the best way to celebrate was to go for a surf. So out we went.

The ice flows are horrendous. VERY DABGEROUS - to both person and board. BUT.... well, I never claimed to be smart. So out I went.

I missed the wave the first try - so worried about the ice that I was off line. But I got it afterwards and had a great surf... until I got surrounded by a minefield of floating ice with no where to go. I bailed off the wave and fought my way to shore through the ice.

Getting out of the river is no easy task. The ice shelf is about 30cm above the water level, and its slippery as hell. I had to shuffle myself onto it like a seal, and then "swim" over it to shore. Dangerous to say the least.

Christine, being smarter than I am decided not to go out after I missed my 1st try, so she went back to the car to warm up while took a 2nd go. So no pictures of my surf, but here are some of the wave and ice.
Lucky for me I have a jaccusi at home, so after the surf we jumped in and warmed up!
