Performance Outfitting

More Pictures

Here are some more pictures of the performance seat.

This is out new seat system for the A La Carte ordering system... basically that means build you boat as you want it.

Seen here on the left is the seat fully outfitted (less butt pad) with the backband (a softer flexy one more like the industry standard, fixed into ratchets on the seat (so they move with the seat when you adjust it). Also pictured are the new 2007 thigh wings, made from Nylon 6 so they're pretty much unbreakable (including the wedges), and the adjustable ratchet footrest.

The seat is one size only (unlike the Elite system where you have three seat size choices). We've done some really cool stuff on the bottom of the seat to make it really stiff and supporting for the hull of the kayak. Waterbottle/throwbag recess in the front, and a high, easy-to-glue-to sidewall for hippads for those who insist on using them ;-).

But this is the seat totally rigged... for those that want all the bells and whistles. Pictured below is the seat with some of its options....

The Naked seat. This is how the seat comes for the BASE model. No bells, no whistles... you're not paying for anything you don;t want or are going to rip out. The seat back is high like the famous Power Seat or Testarossa seat, and just a simple skin of foam makes it soft and comfortable. The deck of the kayak has the Riot/Jackson kayaks style molded in thigh baces, that you pad if you want, and you stuff foam (pretty much the industry standard) into the nose for footrests. This boat retails for "about" $800 (still to be determined). Light and simple and cost effective - what some people have been clammoring for. You'll also notice the new nylon side bars - replacing the old aluminium ones. Easier to adjust, and ligher too. The seat pan (under your ass) is about 1cm off the bottom of the boat - one of the lowest in the industry.
Here the seat is pictured with the OPTIONAL backband. You can have this installed at the facroty if you order it factory direct, or otherwise buy it later and install it yourself in about 5 mins. The Soft foam backband slides on a webbing back, thats inserted through two holes on the top of the seat. This is then bolted to 2 ladder straps, and inserted into two ratchets, which are screwed into the seat through molded in iserts (easy as pie).

The whole system remains a unit (so the ratchets are not attached to the deck or thigh brace) so the entire seat still moves as one unit, and the backband angle doesn;t change when you adjust your seat.

Here the seat is pictures with the backband and the thigh wings. You can of course get one without the other. The two nylon (replacing the old polycarbonate) wedges are screwed to the seat through two molded in inserts, taking about... 20 seconds if you're slow. The wings are then screwed to the wedges and you're done. The entire system can be removed in the same 40 seconds ;-)......
Pictured her is the seat with the footsled - adjustable footrest with a ratchet system. Again, you can get just the sled without the thigh brace or backband... the choice is yours. The sled itself is a heel block, not ball-of-the-foot black, releiving pressure on the foot, and reducing calf cramping and also hip cramping (as well as blistering of the toes).

This also takes about 20 seconds to install if you get it aftermarket.

Anyway.... just wanted to keep everyone appraised of the developments at Dragorossi with the new outfitting.
