| "There is no other feeling in the world that is cooler than Surfing a wave. This film takes you in the front seat of the energy involved and the feeling of being a part of something new. Pororoca takes you into the heart of the Amazon river and showcases the characters involved in surfing one of the last unexplored waves in the world."

| One of the aspects we liked most about the film is that a lot is explained, this would make perfect viewing for the casual viewer as well as a normal paddler. At 45 minutes long, it is a medium length film, not as long as End Game for example, but longer than quite a few other movies being produced. Throughout the whole film, we never felt it dragging on; a lot of emphasis has been made on the back story, as well as the lifestyle and culture, which is a refreshing change. It is nice to watch a video that is not about the biggest drops and the largest air moves, but rather about something new and interesting. This approach has also made the personalities of the paddlers really stand out, with interviews being conducted about their opinions, which really brings out how the locals fear the wave. There is some nice footage from the archives of the expedition paddlers, which shows their backgrounds off well. There is a lot of camaraderie between the kayakers, with friendly banter being exchanged. There is subtle humour running throughout the film, but is conducted in a skilled way which doesnt detract from the film.

| This movie is really a new genre in the kayaking indsutry. We can really feel what the team has ben trough and the pororoca experience is now also ours. In the movie there are some excellent pictures that have been animated in a 3 dimensionnal way and this it superb. The Pororoca is not a freestyle, action sport video. Its more like a documentary where you discover a new world in the eyes of a kayaker. For sure this film worth the money... and you can see me during 3 seconds so it worth eve more! | |||||||||||||||

| Corran's DVD's are very much like his boats. You will love them or hate them. I have always enjoyed Corran's DVD's and this is without a doubt one of his finest efforts. Not only is Corran at the cutting edge of boat design but he is leading the way when it comes to DVD production too. I think that "The Poroca Experience" is special. I've lost count of the number of times people have said to me that this film would make a great one-off TV documentary (and perhaps that is Corran's plan - who knows)! The soundtrack is excellent. The way that the high quality still images "move" to create an impressive 3 dimensional feeling is very clever. They're still photo's but they seem to be layered. I cannot explain it! My only criticism is that the movie is for me too short. It's about 45-50 minutes so that isn't really shorter than some other titles in my collection but compared to some of Corran's past masterpieces (particularly End Game) I was left wanting more. No problem - I just played it all the way through again and again. |

| I've watched the Pororoca film about three times now and feel it is Corran's best media work to date. The HD images are amazingly clean and vivid, the photographs magazine quality and the music and story are more documentary like than the typical punk-rock, thrashy and violent videos paddlers are used to seeing. I especially enjoyed that Brazilian music was used throughout the film. The surfing footage was from a unique and honest perspective although I would have enjoyed seeing a great deal more even if it was just "surfing". Considering no one had ever been on this wave in a kayak it must have been extremely gratifying that they where able to capture their moment. Thumbs Up! |

| The first thing that you notice on popping the DVD into your player is that the DVD's video and sound quality is A1. Both been remastered, giving the ultimate in image/sound quality. When it's being pumped through a surround sound system you really start to appreciate the full quality of the production.

| The Pororoca. Wow! What can I say? Its like a Discovery channel segment for kayakers. I think this is something thats been missing in this market for a long time. Corran takes us on a trip. Thats what we do. We travel. So much of our time is spent running shuttle. He shows us some insights into the lifestyle these guys lead, that enables them to get to these magical places. I didnt just see looped segments of cutbacks and flashes of shore. I learned about the country and the wave itself. How the wave is formed and whats under the surface of the river. The video takes us to the bore, shows us the locals, exposes some of the myths but still keeps the mystique that makes that place so alluring. The photography and video is top notch. Crystal clear shots of some amazing kayaking in a remote place cant be easy. These guys clearly have the right equipment and attitude to get the job done and done well. The kayaking is what we came for right. Certainly. And it doesnt disappoint. But, it was quite enjoyable to get a small glimpse into these guys lives in some of the off water scenes. We know the names, have the posters in our garage, read the magazines, and have watched them spin a zillion times on other videos. But, it was cool to listen to them discuss the wave and talk about random things. I think this video gives a fresh look in a stale market. I hope this trend continues. Well done, to all who were involved in making the video, from the toothless lady serving your beers to the folks that make the software to edit it all together. You all need each other. | The Pororoca DVD is what kayaking has been waiting for! Most other kayaking DVDs try to present the "hard core" side of the sport. This DVD is able to capture the soul of the sport. The documentary style allows the viewer an opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes. The life of a kayaker is not playing at the top play play spots everyday. There are road blocks and other obstacles when traveling to these world class destinations. It is nice to have an insiders view of such a trip. The video footage was excellent and the music captured the location. It was refreshing to see a fun and educational video rather than a music video with kayaking. Corran's videos have some very unique characteristics which set them apart from the rest. The Pororoca is a great DVD and I highly recommend it. | |||||||||||||||

| "Kayaking is for me an exciting sport to perform but watching a series of 200 airblunts 60 airscrews and 13 misty flips on a 27 inches screen keeps my interest for fifty nine seconds max. Unlike porn style kayaking movies Pororoca got my attention from the beginning to the end. The exoticism of the Amazon, the dangers of a wild fauna, and of course, a mythical wave destroying all on its passage to conquer, Pororoca will plunge you in an extreme adventure. I am good in too many sports to excel in only one. I will probably never make a misty flip but I can imagine myself in a similar expedition. This film fed my dreams intensively for 45 minutes. Incredible images, exiting life style, Pororoca an adventure to be seen!" | |||||||||||||||

| The Pororoca is a insightful piece of documentary work about the culture and legend behind the Amazon's mythical Pororoca, and those who seek it for a surf kayak experience. The film was funny in parts, and the footage of the wave surfing was well done. Great to see pros at play! shannon Burt East Coast Editor www.Trailpeak.com |

| "The Pororoca experience through Corran's eyes is more than just a story about a infamous tidal wave anomoly. It is a intimate glimpse into the mind of a paddling visionary following his dreams, and the competitive and sometimes disfunctional (always entertaining) rivalry that occurs when the outspoken badboyz of the sport come together. How could you not be entertained by Daniel, Steve, Corran, and Rusty's antics in a foreign country searching for an ellusive worldclass playspot? This film comes complete with the intrigue, and drama of any exciting adventure, while combining the raw beauty of rural Brazil. A must have for all true adventure paddlers."

| Corran Addision is evolving and his latest DVD release is evidence of that. The Pororoca is a wonderful cross between the kayak porn we all want and need and a more mature, intelligent and reflective and in touch National Geographic special. The insights into the life of the people who live and work in and beside the river is captivating, he takes the time to give the viewer a feeling of what its like being a traveler who makes the time and effort to be inside a community. On the flip side, the footage of paddling is amazing. No, its not the Tsang Po, or some isolated northern Quebec creek during a once in a lifetime flood, what it is though is a unique and for the most part previously unseen tidal effect that fits into the realms of something that more than the top 5% of boaters in the world could successfully do. Thats the maturity sneaking in. Make no mistake, the team assembled to do this was tremendous, Fischer, Sage, Addison, Valsecchi and their skills were more than evident; but this time Corran is dangling the carrot out there for the weekend warrior. I found myself playing and rewinding the surf scenes, trying to imagine if I could make the wave, if I could make (some of) the moves; and more often than not I believed I could. For that reason alone this will be a welcome addition to my one day maybe dream list. Don Ricker |
