| The Hipsquash is essentailly a Fish Shape combined with a Squashtail. Forward movelemnt of the foil on the rail and wider nose makes this board literally swim itself onto anything a board 6" longer struggles to catch, and when the wave gets all mushy and slow, it stays on the plane and stays on the wave. The Squashtail style template and tail rocker make the board very manouverable and snappy of the tail, and the speeds that can be generated through long carving turns that rail from tip to tail are impressive. While this board is not as versitile on steep walled out waves as the Squashtail, its strength is in the huge variety of conditions that it can opperate, especially flat slow river waves or mushy gutless ocean waves. Riders on this board out in the ocean are swimming onto waves that 7'6" mini malibu boards were missing.
If you're looking to move up from a "fun shape" to a board that is going to take your surfing to the next level, but still want a board that swims fast and well, and will stay on the wave when it looses its power, then this is the board for you. |
